Terms of use
The terms on which FootyFacts Board is offered — accounts and usernames, acceptable use, ownership of the site and its data, advertising, and the limits of what a free puzzle can promise.
These terms cover your use of FootyFacts Board, including the game and every page on this site. Using the site means accepting them. They are written to be read rather than to be long, and they are deliberately short because the site does very little: it shows you a puzzle, keeps your score, and shows advertising.
The service
FootyFacts Board is a free daily puzzle, offered as it is. There is no paid tier, no subscription and nothing behind a paywall. There is also no guarantee of availability: the site may be unreachable, a deploy may break something, and a board may be changed or a category removed if it turns out to rest on bad data. Corrections take priority over continuity — a puzzle that rejects correct answers is worse than one that changed.
Accounts and usernames
You can play the entire game without an account. If you create one, it exists to do a single thing: carry your statistics and streak between devices under a globally unique username.
- You are responsible for keeping your password to yourself, and for activity under your account.
- Usernames are publicly readable, which is what makes them unique. Choose one you are content to have visible. Usernames that impersonate somebody, that exist to advertise, or that are abusive may be reset or removed.
- You can delete your account from the profile screen at any time. Deletion removes the username, the statistics and the saved boards, and is not reversible.

Acceptable use
Play the game however you like — including looking things up, which this site has no interest in policing. What is not acceptable is anything that degrades the site for other people or for its host: automated scraping at a rate that burdens the service, attempts to break, probe or overload it, republishing the dataset as your own product, or presenting the site's content as somebody else's work.
The underlying player and club data comes from Wikidata and is released under CC0, so the facts themselves are free for anyone to use — go to the source rather than through this site, and you will get a better copy.
What belongs to whom
The site's design, code, written pages, category definitions and scoring model are the work of its operator. The football facts are not owned by anybody, as above. Club, league and competition names are the property of their respective owners and appear here descriptively, to state facts about careers; FootyFacts Board is not affiliated with, endorsed by or licensed by FIFA, UEFA, any league or any club.
Quoting or linking to the site is welcome. Reproducing whole pages is not.
Accuracy
The data is imperfect and the site says so at length on the methodology page. Nothing here should be treated as an authoritative record of anybody's career, and it should certainly not be used to settle a bet. If a board rejects an answer you know is right, that is a bug worth reporting, not a ruling.
Advertising
The site is funded by advertising served through Google AdSense. Advertisements are labelled and are not editorial: an advertiser appearing here is not endorsed by this site, and this site has no control over which advertisers appear. Transactions you enter into with an advertiser are between you and them. Ads are not shown on utility screens — loading states, error pages and competition lobbies carry no ad units.
Liability
The site is provided without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. It is a free puzzle run by one person; it cannot accept liability for loss arising from using it, from it being unavailable, or from the data being wrong. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
Changes and contact
These terms may change; material changes will be reflected in the date below, and continuing to use the site after a change means the updated terms apply. Questions, complaints and anything that reads as unfair here can go to the contact address — raising it directly is faster than any alternative.
